Happiness is a Choice

Many a times people feel that happiness is something that can be attained after the fulfilment of their desires. We put conditions on our happiness. But such happiness is momentary. In reality, happiness is a quality that is unconditional. It is not something we get, but something we are—it is a state of our being.

How can one experience true happiness?

When one is able to involve himself/herself completely into an action and is able to get dissolved into the action, the sense of self within starts fading leading to the experience of true happiness. When you sing a song, ‘YOU’ start singing it, but, in the process, you get so immersed and involved in the act of singing that you lose yourself. This reduces the sense of ‘I’ within you. You become the song. Thus, happiness is experienced just by being totally involved in the action without any expectations.

Life is all about doing our actions as actions give us experiences. Without action, one cannot experience the different facets of life. Thus, one should never run away from action and experiences. Every action can be made beautiful when done with complete involvement. Enjoy your work and every action that comes your way. This will make your life happy.

Reducing the ‘I’ can reduce the burden of life

In the current era, where almost everything is accessible with a click of a button, the need for physical effort has diminished drastically from our daily lives. But, in earlier times, life was physically quite demanding. The everyday lives of people involved strenuous routines- working in the fields, carrying water on their heads from faraway places, grinding grains manually to get flour, taking care of animals etc. Basic necessities like food and clothing were also not always abundant.

Yet, people performed their strenuous chores with a song and a smile. They got together as a community and celebrated life. The songs, the dances, and the ability to connect with others reduced the burden of their life as it reduced the ‘I’ or the sense of self. When the sense of self reduces, ease and lightness naturally set into life.

The memories and personality that has been created from childhood and that you are holding on to creates unhappiness and problems in life. You just need to lessen this burden of your life which you have carried from your childhood. Thus, happiness is something you can always choose.

Keep your logic aside

Life cannot be decoded through logic. In fact, logic deters you from following the rhythm of life. If you keep your logic a little aside and allow yourself to flow with the natural rhythm of your life, happiness would become a natural experience.
